The King

So, here's the moment you've all been waiting for...or at least the moment I've been waiting for. Rex got to trick or treat in his smooth Halloween costume. The ladies went wild. Here he is....ELVIS!
He actually seemed to enjoy the outfit once people started giving him a lot of attention for it.
The costume is courtesy of my mom's super sewing skills and our combined "bedazzling" skills :)
We sprayed his hair black and used a lot of product to give it the Elvis look.
By the end of the night he was pretty tuckered out, but he refused to let go of the fist full of lollipops he had acquired.
I think Halloween is even more fun as a parent than as a child. It was so fun to show him off and to hand pick the candy I wanted from his haul. I mean, he couldn't possibly eat it all, right?

The Latest Moves

Here are a few of the things Rex has up his sleeve when he wants to be cute.

1) He shrugs his shoulders. I always laugh when he does it so he does it over and over again.

2) He's been into blowing kisses lately. Even strange women in the grocery store benefit from that one.

3) He puts his little finger on his lips and says, "Hmmm..." This is usually done in conjunction with opening the cupboard with all the food in it. He's trying to give me the hint that he wants some fruit snacks. If Rex ruled the world he would eat those for every meal.

4) He spins. He thinks he's hilarious when he does this.

5) Instead of grunting when he wants something, he now just chants, "Mama! Mama!"

It's been so fun to watch him learn new things everyday. I love this stage and I love this boy.

Two Little Buddies

I couldn't stand looking at my pirate-self any longer, so here are two faces I prefer to look at.
Here's my shaggy little guy. Maybe I should have planned on him being Shaggy and Jeff being Scooby-doo for Halloween. As soon as the weekend is over he'll be getting a nice short haircut.
I got to watch this sweet, little face today. He is such a good boy and Rex loves having him over. It gives him someone to imitate. Everytime they see each other they hug. I love it.

Arrrrrrrgh!

Jeff and I got invited to a fun Halloween party Saturday night. It was great. We didn't have any costumes a couple of hours before hand, so Jeff got the job of picking some up while he was out. He brought me home a "sexy pirate costume." I'd say I'm nore of a feisty pirate.
Jeff also went in pirate attire.
Who knew he could look so great with an earring?
It was a fun evening with fantastic food and good company.

Moving!

Yes, it's true. Jeff , Rex, and I are moving....not very far, but still moving. We found this home that we fell in love with and decided to put our home up for sale. Surprise - our home went under contract two weeks later. While I LOVE our current neighborhood and all the people here, we'll only be five minutes away. We have a month left in this home and then the official move occurs. Yikes! Jeff has been going to town packing things already. He's the man. Rex doesn't know what all the boxes are about, but he thinks it's fun to go through them all. (He'll be a lot more helpful during the unpacking part.) Anyhow, that's our current big news. More info and pictures later.

Yee-haw!!!

Let me introduce you to Rex the Cowboy. He's got of lots of personality. He will let me take a few pictures of him if I stuff him full of candy while taking the shots, but he still won't smile.
Smiles or not - I still think he's the cutest cowboy I've ever seen.
Here he is ready to make an arrest.
Rex actually now has a cowboy theme room. Pictures and debut still to come. It's all ready, but I'm keeping him in his nursery a little longer because I like the fact that he can't get out of his crib. What age did all of you let your kids switch to a bed?

These Boots Were Made for Walkin'

I bought these golashes for Rex a few months ago simply because I thought they were really cute. The fun thing is, he actually really likes them. He brings them to me in the house to put on him.
They are a little trickier to walk in, not to mention run.
You might be thinking to yourself right now, "Man, Cheri needs to give that boy a haircut! Yikes!" While that is true, it's super crazy here because of his nap and I'm letting it grow for his Halloween costume. Just wait and see....it's going to rock.
He loves his playset - especially the slide.

Are You Kidding Me?

I've been excited to take pictures of Rex in autumn leaves for months now. The problem is I woke up today to 3 or 4 inches of snow. The leaves haven't even fallen yet. I was outraged.
Someone, however, was pretty excited about the snow.
Here's the little man all dressed up for church today. Since it was cold, I got to bust out this adorable little hand-me-down sports coat. Check out those elbow patches...smooth!
After church I let him "discover" the snow himself.
He kept trying to pick it up and give it to me.
There was a day long ago when I thought I only wanted girls. What was I thinking? I don't think they make them cuter than this and he's all mine!

Having a Ball

While I haven't been the world's most exciting blogger lately, I do have my reasons. My parents were in town last week and this week Rex got strep. Yup, my poor little guy has been miserable. Anyhow, here's a picture of how he's most likely to be seen lately....with a ball in his hand. He carries at least one wherever he goes. He's doing lots of new fun things everyday, but nothing that he will repeat on command. He's a stubborn little guy......don't know where he gets that from. It could only be his father, of course :)

Banana Boy

Well, as you can see, Rex loves bananas - especially when grandma is feeding them to him.
Whoa, that's a big bite for a little guy.
Here are the chipmunk cheeks.
Rex also loves exploring in our backyard.
He still hasn't figured out how to break out....thank goodness!
He loves his birthday present from Grandma and Grandpa Heaton, but he thinks it's a climbing toy. He's practicing his tap dancing here and making his mom nervous.
When he got tired of being outside he went in and accidentally turned the TV on super loud with just static. He came out crying and scared. It was pretty funny.
