The Newest Little Guy...

I took a couple more shots of little Baden today so you can have a better look at what he looks like.

He's been pretty mellow so far. I'm hoping that sticks.
He has big guns.

He is the softest little thing ever.

He has the cutest, longest feet like his brother.

Rex has lots of kisses for the little guy. I'll try to get some of them together in the next few days...if Rex will cooperate.

He Has a Name!

We would like to introduce to you all to....

Baden Magill Heaton.

pronounced (Bay-den)

After much discussion and since we had to pick a name before we left the hospital, we finally settled on a name. I will be posting more pics soon. We're just getting settled in for now. Thanks for all your comments and support.

Room With a View

This is my view right now. Yes, he's arrived. I won the labor jackpot today. He came a lot more willingly than Rex. I had a lot of contractions last night and then I went in to be induced today. I think my contractions gave me a jump start. The little guy was born at 11:46am. I had a lovely epidural and actually enjoyed the whole process. Yeah, baby!

Here's a close-up. He has light brown hair, but it looks a little red and blonde, too.
We were so blessed to have everything go smoothly. He is doing great and so am I.

He has the same long feet Rex has. They are too big for the spot they have alotted on the birth certificate. It looks really funny.

The Last Checklist

We're down to 3 full days until Baby "B" arrives, so I've been working pretty hard on my final checklist during the last week or two. Here are some of the things I've been up to.

1) I planted some flowers in our yard. It needed some color. Good thing Cassie came to help out because I forget I don't have that much energy anymore.

2) I got some final painting done in the house where I've been meaning to finish off.

3) I got Rex's haircut (see older post) and mine, too. I needed a good trim on my short do.

4) I got a pedicure....oh yeah baby! I had lady go all out with something extra fun. (Please don't stare too closely at my feet. I know they aren't the most beautiful things.)

5) I added some final touches to the nursery. The big wall got a shelf and a bigger frame. The shelf I got 50% off and unfinished. I slapped on some white paint, added knobs, and picked out a few items to go on it. The "B" is probably for the little guy's name, but we'll see. We have 3 "B" names we like and if don't pick one of them then it'll stand for "baby." The frame I also got 50% off and I painted it to match the room.
I sewed a little birdie pillow to match the theme. The room that the nursery is has a window with a rosebush that grows up the side of the house. As you look out the window, the leaves from outside frame it and little birds often come and sit on the branches. It's really pretty. Hence the bird/nature theme.
One more little frame I painted. I can't wait to take pictures of the little guy and fill up the frames.

I finished off the bumper pads.

Well, I won't bore you with the rest of the list. Nothing too exciting, but it's all done. The next three days are for deep cleaning. I don't love doing it, but it sure feel great when it's all done.

I also had my last lesson with these sweet girls. Now that I'll have two little men, teaching piano will be a little too tricky. I am totally going to miss these ladies (as will Rex), but they have promised to visit a lot. They spoiled me with flowers and chocolates for our last lesson! They are so great and I have really loved teaching them.

Waiting for Baby B...

Cass and I did a little photo exchange yesterday. She took some pictures of us and I took some pictures of her family. (See her blog for those.) I stole this watermelon idea from a picture I saw and had to do it with Jeff and I. I think I'm still carrying a little more than he is.

I love this picture because it's life right now. Rex, my belly, and I going everywhere together. We're inseparable, you know.
While I'm sure he doesn't fully understand what's to come, he does know that "baby brother" is in mommy's tummy. I love it when he pats my belly.

"Does this hat make my head look big?"

Having Rex has definitely changed everything. He has added so much joy to our lives. It makes me even more excited about meeting #2 and thinking about what he'll be like.

Here's my man. He hates having pictures taken, but he toughed it out for me. Saying "no" to an almost 9-month-pregnant woman is never in your best interest. He knows that :)

Nine more days and our family photo will look a lot different. I'll keep you posted.

Watermelon and Wife Beaters

Rex has added two new favorites to his list - watermelon and wife beaters (white tank tops for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about). I found the wife beaters in his size the other day and I couldn't resist. They look hilarious on his skinny little body and the less clothing he has to wear, the happier he is. Don't worry, he won't be making public appearances in them.

I think he could eat a whole watermelon himself.
It's a serious job.

Not a bit wasted.

It's hard not to give this little face everything he wants. I'm a little partial.

A "Real" Haircut for a Real Man

Rex had his first official haircut by someone other than me. I've given him about 20, but I have finally given up. He doesn't enjoy the process and I'm not a speed demon at it. So, today we hit "Cookie Cutters." While he still screamed through a good portion of it, I totally recommend the place to anyone. Check out the car he got to sit in. He also got to choose any movie he wanted to watch. The girl was great. If she hadn't had the buzzers in her hand I think he really would have loved her :)

I'll have to show you the cut tomorrow because the picture I took was with my tiny camera and it was super blurry. Anyhow, he looks like a little stud and I got to check one more thing off my to-do-before-the-baby-comes-list.

My Momma!

Dear Mom,

I sending you this "blog card" to say Happy Mother's Day! I love you and miss you so much. Let me tell you why. I love how you have never stopped learning. I admire your knowledge of the gospel and your dedication to it. I wish being your daughter meant I could download all your knowledge into my own head. I miss calling you when I have to give a lesson or a talk. Don't worry - you've taught me well and I am so thankful for that.

You have always believed in me and told me I could do anything. Your faith in me has meant so much.
I love your love of art...sewing, decorating, painting, and on and on. I loved coming along with you to every wallpaper store in the county when I was little and now I love having your help/assistance/opinion when I decorate my own home. (I also thought you and dad might like to have a moment remembering these chairs. You'll sit in them again in 14 months.)
I love seeing what kind of wife you are. You and dad are like highschoolers sometimes. I love that you are both so in love. I have learned a lot by watching you support and uplift him.

I especially love seeing you as a grandma.

You always have something to pull of your purse and every grandchild knows it. Don't worry, I've been buying Rex tic-tacs while you're gone.

Thank you for being so proud of us and sharing our joy.

I'm sure glad I was sent to you. Thanks for waiting around that extra month while I was waiting to make my appearance. (That means even more to me right now that I'm 8.5 months along.)

Puppy for Sale

For a limited time you can buy this little pup. He's cute and cuddley, but not potty-trained. He does know quite a few impressive tricks. He needs to be fed constantly and he loves playing outside.

Don't worry, most days I wouldn't really sell him.
He's my stinky, little puppy and I sure love him.

Small Fries

My sister Cassie and I were shopping at Target a couple of months ago (surprise, surprise) and we came across these shirts. We thought they were hilarious and we started scheming about what a cute photo shoot we do with them. So, let me introduce to you these three small fries...
