Hanging with Grandma and Grandpa

Rex had a little play time with Grandma and Grandpa Heaton on Saturday. He had lots of fun.

What He's Up to and Into

Rex has been changing and growing quickly lately. Here are some of the new things he's up to:

1) He is reaching for everything. Whether it's 30 or 2 feet away, he reaches his little hand out to what he wants and then gives me this look like, "Mom, can't you get that for me?"

2) If it were up to him, Rex would eat bananas for every meal. (Which would also mean he'd never have a bowel movement again, so I regulate him.) He thinks they are the world's best food.

3) He waves. I've been waiting for this one because it's one of my favorites. He does the funniest wave and I will try to catch it on camera one of these days.

4) He grunts in stores to get people's attention. He looks at them like, "Duh, don't you know you're supposed to tell me how cute I am?"

5) He loves music! I finally bought a stereo for my i-pod, so we listen to music together and dance every morning. He gets the biggest smile on his face everytime the music starts.

Here are a couple videos from this week. I bought a memory card for my camera this week so I can take more than a 20 second video. (However, I promise not to post 50 hour videos of my child that only I find interesting :)

Spring Photo Shoot

I bought this little hat for Rex a few months ago because it's like the kind all the cute old men in Portugal wear. I love it. I've been waiting for the weather to be nice so I could do a little photo shoot of him in it. When I say, "I could do a photo shoot," I really mean luring Cassie to come over with her nice camera and her talented eye. Thanks, Cass! Here are my favorites:

My Little Couch Potato

When Rex gets a bit cranky I turn to my last resort - "Baby Einstein." It's a video that makes any adult want to beat his or her head against the wall, but babies love it. Rex also loves holding the remote and being reclined. Here he is just loving it.

Honestly, what man (young or old) doesn't love to be naked AND have the remote? Add beef jerky and it's heaven.

Jeff and I just spent a much-needed week in Hawaii and it was fabulous. Here are some of our pics and highlights.

We took a helicopter ride and got to see some amazing views of the island.
We went snorkeling and from the boat we saw lots of whales and dolphins.
We drove the road to Hana and stopped at some waterfalls and pools.
We saw lots of wildlife - some of it a little too closely.
Our hotel had some gorgeous landscaping.
We sailed around the entire island alone on this canoe (okay, I'm totally kidding on that one).
It wouldn't be a Hawaiin trip without a flower lei.
We rode on ATVs through the farmland.
Lastly, here's my favorite photo (because of the cool tree and the hot guy in it).

Project Swingset

While some of you might think, "Rex seems a little small for a swingset," I was really anxious to get one for him. Plus, Cam can use it and it kind of finishes off this weird section of our yard that has been useless and dead. Anyhow, my Dad and Chris were VERY kind to put it together. Let's just say it was a lot more intensive than I thought it could be. I owe them BIG time.

Yeah! It's SO exciting! I can't wait for warmer weather.
There's definitely a lot of kid in me that gets seriously excited about toys.
Cam will never let me take pictures of him anymore, so this is how it went down:

Cheri: Cam, PLEASE look at me!

Cam: No!
Cheri: Please, can't you just smile?

Cam: No!

Cheri (now desperate): Ahhh! There's a bug on my face!

Click! I'm still able to out smart him, but probably not for long :)

We never get to celebrate my dad's b-day with him, but we did this year. Here's the lovely, very tasty cake. Yum!

We also had to eat at Bajio's the other day, purely because of their beverage selection. Jeff and my Dad get really excited about it and my Dad can drink his body weight in liquid. We get a lot of bang for our buck there. Here are the men enjoying the drinks.
Here's the amazing beverage selection. They have an orange one that tastes like a dreamsicle and they have a horchata and pina colada.
