Rex has been saying "Da-da" for over two months now. He chants it happily all the time. He often says it when he sees Jeff. It's sweet and adorable and...totally unfair! I've been working on getting him to say "Ma-ma" for months and months. You know, "Mama" - the one who changes 95% of the diapers...the one who gets up in the middle of the night to sooth him...the one who spent sixteen painful hours birthing him? Well, about two weeks ago he started saying "ma-ma," BUT he only says it when he's mad. Here's what I mean:

He is so cute and you are right it is so unfair. I comforted myself by thinking it must just be easier to say da-da even though they love and appreciate everything I do for them. He knows you'll come fix all of his problems if he calls you. He's not calling for Jeff to fix anything. You're his hero-- just think of it that way.
A little factoid:
Your baby’s language development continues. He may put his consonant sound(d, b, l and m) and vowel sounds (ee, ey, ah,
and ooh) together to form words such as “dada,” “mama” and “bye-bye.” Incidentally, your baby may say “dada” before “mama” simply because those syllables are easier in the beginning.

I love this baby!!!!!!!!!!
I think he should work on saying "dada" in the middle of the night really loudly. =)
Such a sad sounding little whimper. I'm with Jodi maybe while you are gone I will work with him on saying daddy at night! :)
You were robbed, Cher. So was I. But now they call me "gorgeous Mommy" to make up for it. (Julie's idea!)
You know what comes next Cheri.... "No Mama"
We love Rex!!!
