My Music Man

I wanted to write this one down before I forget it. Rex loves music and lately he does something I get a real kick out of. He points to the stereo so I will turn on the music, then he opens the lazy susan and finds the little jar of sprinkles. The music plays and he dances and uses the sprinkles like maracas. I think it's absolutely adorable. He IS my son.

It's Someone's Birthday....

Today is my little sister's birthday. Happy birthday, Cass!
If you don't know her you are missing out. She is an amazing sister and mother. She is one of the most thoughtful people I know and I am so lucky to have her close by.
I hope your birthday is fabulous, Cass. I love you like crazy!

"Into Everything"

I think each month getting "into everything" means more and more. Rex has discovered things I never noticed in our house. It's crazy. Here are a couple things he's been getting into lately:
1) Yesterday he came into the room with a giant-size Hershey's bar clutched in his hand with a giant bite out of it and chocolate running down his face. He didn't even have the look on his face that says he's in trouble. He thought it was all good.
2) Today he came into the room chewing on my toothbrush. Now, I do share everything with Rex, but this was a little too far for my liking. To add to it, he had just been eating cheese and my brush was orange. Eeeeew! Good thing I have some back-ups. (Thanks, Cass!)
3) He's now figured out how to grunt "uh-uh" while he shakes his head to say "no." He does it very aggressively, so there's no doubt what he means by it.
4) He says, "shoes?" when he wants to go outside.
5) He loves to sit in the washing machine. I let him do it and give it a spin. It's like his own little amusement park.
I had to snap this quick picture of him the other day. You see, Rex is 99% Jeff, but when he does something that's from me I get kind of excited. I love to sit cross-legged when I eat and Rex always does it too. I'm pretty sure he's got me wrapped a little too tightly around his little finger...but look at that face!

November Leaves

Cass and I wanted to get some pics of the boys in the leaves so we went on location (to her backyard, that is) for a little shoot. As you can see here, although Cam has a year and a half on Rex, Rex is gaining on him quickly. You can also see that Cam is very tolerant of Rex.
Here's my little rock star. I chopped off all his Elvis hair, so I thought it was a good time to bring out the beanie.
This is the are-you-really-getting-your-camera-out-again look he gives me. Gotta love it.
Is this the cutest hat on Cam ever or what?
While this picture doesn't represent Cam very well (because he's really very sweet about letting me take pictures) I just loved it anyhow. What a sweet little scowl! He is such a kind, thoughtful little guy.
Well, that's it for now. We'll try and get some of Coop tomorrow.

The King

So, here's the moment you've all been waiting for...or at least the moment I've been waiting for. Rex got to trick or treat in his smooth Halloween costume. The ladies went wild. Here he is....ELVIS!
He actually seemed to enjoy the outfit once people started giving him a lot of attention for it.
The costume is courtesy of my mom's super sewing skills and our combined "bedazzling" skills :)
We sprayed his hair black and used a lot of product to give it the Elvis look.
By the end of the night he was pretty tuckered out, but he refused to let go of the fist full of lollipops he had acquired.
I think Halloween is even more fun as a parent than as a child. It was so fun to show him off and to hand pick the candy I wanted from his haul. I mean, he couldn't possibly eat it all, right?

The Latest Moves

Here are a few of the things Rex has up his sleeve when he wants to be cute.

1) He shrugs his shoulders. I always laugh when he does it so he does it over and over again.

2) He's been into blowing kisses lately. Even strange women in the grocery store benefit from that one.

3) He puts his little finger on his lips and says, "Hmmm..." This is usually done in conjunction with opening the cupboard with all the food in it. He's trying to give me the hint that he wants some fruit snacks. If Rex ruled the world he would eat those for every meal.

4) He spins. He thinks he's hilarious when he does this.

5) Instead of grunting when he wants something, he now just chants, "Mama! Mama!"

It's been so fun to watch him learn new things everyday. I love this stage and I love this boy.

Two Little Buddies

I couldn't stand looking at my pirate-self any longer, so here are two faces I prefer to look at.
Here's my shaggy little guy. Maybe I should have planned on him being Shaggy and Jeff being Scooby-doo for Halloween. As soon as the weekend is over he'll be getting a nice short haircut.
I got to watch this sweet, little face today. He is such a good boy and Rex loves having him over. It gives him someone to imitate. Everytime they see each other they hug. I love it.
