Introducing.....Rex McKay Heaton

So, as I promised, here are some pictures of Rex:

his first close-up

father and son....so cute!

Jeff is very proud of his beautiful little boy. Rex already has the long legs of a cyclist.

I think he's the cutest thing I've ever seen....especially now that labor is over!

We still don't know when we'll be able to take him home, but we'll let you know when we know.

HE'S HERE!!!

Most of you have probably already read the details or seen pics from Cass's blog. However, I'll fill you in a little more and hopefully I'll post some more pictures tomorrow.

We have finally officially decided on the name. We went with Rex McKay Heaton. He is SO cute, and that's official as well. He's been sleeping with all his limbs completely extended outward. I think he's taking advantage of finally having some space.

Labor was pretty bad, but it's all over and it was well worth it. Jeff was so helpful and wonderful through the whole thing and it's so fun to see him as a daddy now. He's great.

Rex has pneumonia, so they've kept him in the nursery the whole time. We go there to visit him and only grandparents are allowed in with us. We actually got to hold him today, which felt so great. He'll probably have to stay in the hospital a few extra days, even though I'll be discharged tomorrow. He's hanging in there and looking better and better everytime we see him.

So, that's the update. I'll post pictures tomorrow. Thanks everyone for thinking of us and praying for us. We are touched by your love and support and Rex can't wait to meet you all soon!

No Baby Yet....

So the question you're all asking....Has Cheri not posted in a while because she had the baby? Unfortunately the answer is NO. I'm a couple days overdue right now, but the doctor plans to induce me Friday if I haven't had the little guy by then. If life were fair, I would have to wait 26 more days, since my mom was 28 days overdue with me. (I'm still apologizing for that one.)

Anyhow, in the meantime, I'm going to answer these questions since I got "tagged" by Leca. (You have to fill out the answers and then pass on the form.) Here we go.....an insight into the exciting life of yours truly.

Jobs I've held...
1. Dad's office "cleaning lady" and "lawn care"
2. a lot of babysitting
3. car hop at Annie's
4. piano teacher
5. radio jingle singer
6. singer/songwriter
7. I once got paid as a studio singer to sing as if I were 3 years old. It was pretty funny.
8. soon-to-be-mommy

Movies I can watch over and over...
1. Little Women (It's the four sister and no boys thing.)
2. home videos
3. Not much else - I don't like to watch movies over and over.

Places I have lived...
1. Elkhorn, WI
2. Provo, UT
3. Portugal
4. Salt Lake City, UT
5. Sandy, UT

Shows I enjoy...
1. Lost (completely addicted)
2. Battlestar Galatica (I'm a recent convert)
3. Friday Night Lights (Jeff got me into it)
4. anything on HGTV

Places I've been on vacation...
1. Cancun
2. Hawaii
3. Belize
4. Russia

Favorite Food...
1. macaroni and cheese (the cheap Kraft kind - yeah, I know it's sick)
2. raspberry bread pudding
3. Swedish pancakes with ligonberries
4. I could go on FOREVER....should you really ask a women who's 9 months pregnant what she likes to eat? I need 100 blanks to fill in.

Websites I visit...
1. all the blogs
2. Craig's list (when I'm bored)
3. the dollar theater listings

Places I'd rather be right now...
1. in the hospital AFTER having given birth
2. having a couple's massage on the beach on a small island
3. eating the blonde brownie dessert at Appleby's

That's it! Now you all know my weaknesses and idiosyncrasies. Next post I'll have baby pics!

He likes mustard...

I thought his picture was way too cute not to post. Cass and I found out today that Cam really likes mustard. In fact, it seems that the hot dog is really just a delivery mechanism for the mustard. Who knew! Well, his face says it all.

A Little Hike...

Cassie and I thought we'd scout out some new fun places today, so we went to this spot where we heard there was about a quarter of a mile long hike that ended by a waterfall. It sounded like fun, but when we got there we realized it a ton of stairs and then all STRAIGHT up. Since she had Cam and I'm supposed to have a baby in 6 DAYS, we decided to turn back. I think it was the mental image of me giving birth in the wilderness with no doctor that made us think twice.

Here's a small portion of the staircase before it went to a really, really steep dirt trail. We'll have to save the trip for another day, I think. Oh well.

Jeff and Cheri's Day 'O Fun

Well, Jeff and I never ended up going on a vacation this year and every time we tried to plan a fun weekend it didn't happen. Instead, Jeff took off work early today and we went on an extended date. We saw Oceans 13. Then we hit the batting cages. Here's Jeff in action. Notice hes swinging the bat so fast you can hardly see it. Yeah, he's got skills :)

Here he is looking oh-so-tough and telling me that this is not blogging material.

We went to a quick dinner and then got a couple's massage. This is us tense and stressed before the massage....

...and here we are completely relaxed and rejuvenated after the massage. It was really nice!

So, for those of you who aren't counting like I am, I have 10 days left now. We just can't wait to meet the little guy! Here are a couple belly shots.

Here's the profile view which leaves no doubt that I am pre-eh-ehg-nant!

This last picture is to let all the women know I'm officially ready to give birth. Everyone says you have to go in with a great pedicure, so I took that advice this week. Ta-dah!

Radar Blue

Well, we finally decided it was time to get our dog Blue fixed. Although we felt a little bad doing it to him, it became necessary. He has a bad habit of marking his territory in our home and we heard that sometimes getting a dog fixed helps that problem. (I'll keep you posted on the results.)

Jeff picked up Blue after the big surgery and they brought him out with this direct TV dish on. Apparently he's supposed to wear it for 10 DAYS!!! It took him 3 days to realize he could still get up the stairs with it on. It's been a new learning process for him.

He has to be lifted onto the couch where he lays like a little prince.

We're getting some new TV stations, thanks to his new look.

Overall, he's figured out pretty quickly that he can easily milk this experience for all it's worth. He's been getting very spoiled and he doesn't seem to mind his radar collar that much anymore.
